The Vortex Crossfire

Let us start with the Vortex Crossfire. The latter is an entry level line of binoculars from Vortex. However, all the binoculars in this series come with an array of impressive features.

Vortex Crossfire VS Diamondback Binoculars

For starters, all binoculars in this series have fully multicoated optics, a feature that is prominent in high-end optics. The multiple anti-reflective coatings on all glass surfaces guarantee a clear and bright image.

In addition to having multi-coated optics, all binoculars in this series are fitted with O-rings that protect the inside of the binoculars from debris, moisture, and dust. Also, the binoculars are waterproof and are filled with argon gas. In this regard, these binoculars are not affected by fog when used in areas of high humidity or increased temperatures.

There are four binoculars in this category; there are four binoculars with the following configuration, 10X50, 12X50, 10X42, and 8X42.

The latter four binoculars boast of amazing fields of view, with the 8X42 leading the pack with a field of view of 393 ft at 1000 yards.

The 12x50 has the least field of view of 273 ft at 1000 yards. Interestingly, the 10X42 weighs 23.3 ounces and is the lightest. As for the eye relief, all the four binoculars have an eye relief of 15 mm and above. The 12x50 and the 10x42 both have an eye relief of 15 mm while the other two have an eye relief of 17 mm.

While Vortex markets its Crossfire series of binoculars as entry level binoculars, there is nothing entry level about them. All the four binoculars in this series are roof prism binoculars. Because of their size, the 10x42, the 12x50 and the 10x50 binoculars are tripod adaptable.

The Vortex Crossfire 10x32, 8X32 have been discontinued. Nevertheless, you still can find these two binoculars. Similar to all the other Crossfire binoculars both the 10x32 and the 8x32 boast of fully multicoated optics. In essence, Crossfire line of binoculars is ideal for hunters and bird watchers. I will recommend you to choose 10x42 and 8x42 for hunting and other two for birding and nature view purpose.

Vortex Diamondback Binoculars

Vortex’s Diamondback series of binoculars offer you great value for your money. The binoculars in this series are known for their ergonomic design and wide fields of view. Similar to Crossfire binoculars, all Diamondbacks feature fully multicoated optics. In addition, these binoculars come equipped with o-rings to protect the insides of the binoculars from dust, debris and moisture. For ease of adjustments, Diamondback binoculars are fitted with a central focus knob. Furthermore, all Diamondbacks have argon-filled tubes and adjustable eye cups.

Vortex Crossfire VS Diamondback Binoculars

There is a total of nine binoculars in this series all with varying magnification and objective lens configuration. The smallest Diamondback is the 8x28 Diamondback while the largest is the 12x50 Diamondback. In between are other binoculars with the following configurations; 10X50, 8.5X50, 10X42, 8X42, 8X42, 10X32, 8X32, 10X32.

Although the 8X28 is the smallest it does not have the widest field of view, that accolade goes to the 8X32 Diamondback with its impressive 420 ft field of view. As for the eye relief, the 8.5X50 Diamondback leads the rest with an amazing eye relief of 21.5 mm. Needless to say; all binoculars in this series are designed for hunters as well as for bird watching

Vortex Crossfire VS. Diamondback Binoculars

So in the battle of the vortex crossfire vs. Diamondback binoculars, who is the winner? To get an answer, we have to compare the two binoculars series.

When it comes to a wide selection, the Diamondback is the winner. Compared to the Crossfire series that only has four binoculars under it, the Diamondback has nine binoculars. Thus, with the Diamondback you have more options to choose from. However, the Crossfire series makes up for its limited options with its prices. This is because the Crossfire 12X50 is slightly cheaper than the Diamondback 12X50. Additionally, the Crossfire 8X42 is in the same price range as the 8X28 Diamondback. Considering, that the Crossfire has a bigger objective lens, it is fair to say it is cheaper.

In regard to performance, it 's hard to tell which binocular is the winner. Regarding the field of view, the Crossfire 12X50 has a wider field of view than its Diamondback counterpart. However, 420 ft field of view of the 8X28 is slightly higher than what the 8X42 Crossfire has to offer. With regard to comfort, it is again difficult to tell. The Crossfire 12X50’s 15 mm eye relief is edged out by the Diamondback’s 18 mm eye relief. Also, the 8X42 variant of the Diamondback has a better eye relief compared to that of its Crossfire counterpart. Thus, in regard to eye relief, the Diamondback is again the winner with a tiny margin.

The Crossfire series of binoculars narrowly edges out its sibling when it comes to weight. The 12X50 Crossfire weighs 30.3 ounces while its Diamondback counterpart weighs 31.0 ounces. Similarly, the 8X42 Crossfire weighs 23.5 ounces while its Diamondback counterpart weighs 25.2 ounces. Thus, in regard to weight Crossfire binoculars are lighter. However, it is important to note that Smaller Diamondbacks weigh as little as 14 ounces.

Conclusion

Bottom line, it 's hard to crown a victor in the vortex crossfire vs. Diamondback binoculars battle. Thus, it depends on your preferences. If you are keen on the field of view, then the Diamondback will be the binocular for you. On the other hand, if you want greater value for your money the Crossfire series will appeal to you. Nonetheless, both lines of binoculars are suitable for hunting and can also be used for other applications including bird watching. In conclusion, the series of binoculars you choose to settle on will depend largely on your preference. Nevertheless, hunters will be inclined to go for binoculars in the Crossfire series while bird watchers might prefer binoculars under the Diamondback series.
