Atomic Beam Night Hero Binoculars Review: Are They Really Worth the Hype?

So, After seeing lots of advertisements you might be wondering, whether you should consider the Night Hero Night Vision binoculars.

Before moving on to details of the Night Hero Binoculars Review, Let’s dive into some general concepts;

You must have watched those movies that feature night-vision scenes showing images in a greenish light. Well, many of these scenes may have been shot by using just a green filter lens.

Yes, night-vision devices are available and you can buy them.  However, you need to know more about the difference between true night-vision capabilities and just a beam of illuminating green laser light.

There are three types of night-vision devices. The most popular ones are those that receive the available light in the form of photons, which are then into electrons, and then amplified and projected to a phosphor screen to create the image. The eyepiece magnifies this image.

The image in these devices is green in color as the phosphor screen is green in color. This is because the human eye can distinguish between more shades of green than any other color.

The other type is the Digital Night Vision Device where the light signals are projected on an electronic screen. Since this is a digital device, it has an advantage in that you can also record the images and the video.

The third type is the Thermal Night Vision which uses heat or thermal imaging of objects which are different from those in their surroundings. These are used by military and law-enforcement authorities for surveillance and also by hunters and wildlife officials.

Once you have known these characteristics of night-vision devices, it will be easy for you to judge the performance of the Atomic Night Hero Binoculars.

If you are in a hurry, here is our review of the authentic and best night vision binoculars

About Atomic Beam Night Hero Binoculars

Atomic Night Hero Binoculars have an objective lens of 30 mm diameter and a magnification of 10X. The binoculars can be used for viewing sporting events, sight-seeing, bird-watching, and more such activities.

You can make adjustments for proper focusing. The rubber eyecups on the eye-pieces provide comfortable viewing.

The binocular is water-resistant which makes it ideal to be taken during boating or fishing.

One of the most striking features of the binocular, as advertised, is its capabilities to let you see in the dark. The binocular is equipped with a powerful, wide-angle laser light that can illuminate objects up to 150 yards when it is dark. This light has been called ‘the Atomic Beam’ in the advertisements.

The button to switch on the laser light is easily accessible and is placed between the two eyepieces. It requires 2 AAA batteries for the laser beam to operate.

This lightweight and compact binocular weighs only one pound and has a dimension of 2.8 x 7 x 8.5 inches.

How does Atomic Beam Night Hero Binoculars perform?

At its price, the Atomic Beam Night Hero Binoculars is a good buy. It is good for daytime use.

Although the 30 mm objective lens is quite small for a serious binocular, the 10X magnification is adequate for several activities like sight-seeing and bird-watching.

During the night when you switch on the laser light, it illuminates up to a distance of 150 yards. However, it is good only for recreational use and is not a serious night-vision binocular for use in hunting.

When used at night, the beam spreads out to about 30 ft at a distance of hundred yards. This beam is visible from a distance and will alert the animals and birds. True night-vision binoculars let you watch while remaining undetected.

The green laser light acts just like a beam from a torch and lights up the area to be viewed. This is not exactly ‘seeing in the dark’ as the advertisements say. You are seeing because the view is under illumination from the laser light and is lighted up.

Conclusion-Night Hero Night Vision Binoculars Review

The Atomic Beam Night Hero Binocular is not actually a true night-vision binocular. These are not recommended for adults or the serious user who uses binoculars for hunting. At best, it is a good toy for kids to let them get the feeling of using a night-vision binocular.

Good write up. The commercial is misleading–it conveys the impression the binoculars are an actual night vision device.

  • Rash Brown says:

Nice analysis and review of the Night Hero… I ordered one for my nephew.. He really liked it… Not appropriate for adults…

  • Greg says:

I think that the manufacturers of the Night Hero binoculars had be a little about the advertising of their product. And I hope they include warnings about what not to do with these things.

First, their product contains a laser. The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) a part of the National Food & Drug Administration and The American National Standards Institute has set standards for laser power relating to radiological health effects on humans. And as we all know that there has been a serious concern regarding lasers used as nuisances when pointed at humans.

The manufacturers ads make statements of their products being pointed at living beings which goes against the federal rules and regulations regarding laser safety. I suspect that the manufacturer may face possible legal implications in the future from the use of the binoculars by untrained consumers when using the laser feature.
