Before going to the review of best night vision binoculars first let me tell you some thing about best night vision brands, Night vision generation.how a night vision device work And how to choose a perfect night vision binoculars. These will help you to understand more about NVD's (Night Vision Devices).
What Are The Best Night Vision Brands?
The optical industry is a billion dollar industry that has very many players. However, there are those that stand out from the pack. Some of the most trusted names in the industry are Bushnell, ATN, Night Owl and Armasight.
Bushnell
Of the four-night vision brands mentioned above, Bushnell is the oldest. This American company has been in existence for 65 years. Bushnell is particularly famous for its entry level night vision monoculars and goggles. With over 65 years’ experience in the optical industry, Bushnell is a brand that you can always rely on for durable and reliable night vision binoculars.
American Technology Network (ATN)
American Technology Network commonly referred to as ATN is a company that manufacturers all kinds of optical instruments. However, it is in the night vision segment that the company has made a name for itself. The company has the largest selection of night vision devices in the world. Thus, similar to Bushnell, ATN is a brand that you can never go wrong with.
Night Owl
Night Owl is a brand that has been setting the pace in the optical industry for years. With a vast selection of night vision equipment, Night Owl is a global leader in the optical industry. To give it an edge over the competition, the company launched its proprietary night vision technology, which it claims is better than existing generation 2 technology.
Armasight
Armasight is another brand that deserves to be on the list of the best night vision brands. Known for its affordable and high-quality night vision binoculars, the brand has a diverse selection of night vision equipment. Therefore, you can get an Armasight binocular for as low as $50 and as much as $120000.
Night Vision Generations : What Does They Mean?
A night vision binocular can either be a first, second, third or fourth generation. To make things easier for you to understand, night vision generations allude to the kind of light intensifier technology used in a night vision binocular or goggles.
First Generation
The first generation is the cheapest and least sophisticated of the four-night vision generations available. Basically, A first generation night vision device amplifies existing light several thousand times and makes it possible for you to see in the dark. First generation devices are inexpensive and readily available and are thus are the most popular night vision binocular generation.
Second Generation
The pricier second generation binoculars are less common compared to first generation binoculars, the reason being that they are about $500 pricier than first generation devices. For the added cost, second generation binoculars come fitted with an electron amplifier known as a micro-channel plate. Abbreviated as MCP, this plate increases the light amplification power of second generation binoculars. As such, second generation devices produce sharper and brighter images.
Third Generation
Third-night vision generation binoculars feature a sensitive chemical known as gallium arsenide. This chemical element is more effective than the MCP plate used in second generation binoculars. As such, third generation binoculars have a sharper and brighter image quality compared to second generation binoculars.
Fourth Generation
The most recent and advantage night vision generation is the fourth generation. This generation does away with the ion film barrier used in all other generations. In the stead of ion film barriers, fourth generation binoculars use a technology known as an auto-gated power supply. Thus, they offer better image quality than all other generations.
How Does Night Vision Work
The question, how does night vision work is one you probably have asked yourself several times. If you are yet to find a conclusive answer, then this is your lucky day. In this section, I will be talking about how night vision works.
And without further ado, let us get into it.
To understand how night vision works, it is important to note that you require a certain amount of ambient light to see. Thus, when there is insufficient ambient light the human eye is incapable of seeing things clearly. This is where a night vision device comes in. A night vision device will amplify the low amount of ambient light available and channel it to your eyes making it easy for you to see clearly.

How To Choose The Best Night Vision Binoculars
With the vast assortment of night vision binocular models and brands available, finding the best one to meet your specific needs can be difficult. Fortunately, there are some factors you can consider when shopping for a night vision binocular.
What Are You Buying The Binocular For?
When buying a night vision binocular, you must always consider how you intend to use it. Some people may want a night vision binocular for wildlife viewing while others for night time hunting. If you want a night vision binocular for wildlife viewing, then an inexpensive first generation binocular will do just fine. However, if you are looking for an optical tool to carry when going hunting at night a more powerful 2nd generation binocular will be ideal.
Gain and Magnification
When buying a night vision binocular, you must always consider how you intend to use it. Some people may want a night vision binocular for wildlife viewing while others for night time hunting. If you want a night vision binocular for wildlife viewing, then an inexpensive first generation binocular will do just fine. However, if you are looking for an optical tool to carry when going hunting at night a more powerful 2nd generation binocular will be ideal.
Legal Restrictions
I know it sounds strange, but certain states have laws on the use of night vision instruments, binoculars included. Thus, before settling on a night vision binocular, find out whether your state has any laws on night vision use. For instance in California, there are certain military grade night vision binoculars and monoculars that you cannot buy as a civilian.
Special Features
Technology has introduced a plethora of awesome features to the world of night vision binoculars. As such, you can get all kinds of binoculars today, from some that have an inbuilt video camera to others that can be used both at night and during the day. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, going for such binoculars can be rewarding.
While these are the main factors to consider when shopping for a night vision binocular, there are other factors you might want to consider.
- The price tag of a night vision binocular will tell you what kind of a binocular it is, do not expect a $100 binocular to have the sophistication of a $3000 military grade binocular
- The brand is another factor to consider. Personally, I recommend buying binoculars from well-known and trusted brands such as Bushnell or Night Owl.
- A warranty can also be an important factor to consider. Some manufacturers offer a five-year warranty while others offer a three-year warranty, it is up to you to choose the right one for you.
Best Overall Night Vision Binoculars
I have bifurcated the best Night Vision Binoculars as per their use and precision and price. But I found the best three overall as below.
1.Night Owl Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular (5x)
Night Vision Technology
For starters, the Pro Nexgen, night vision binocular, which is a Night Owl creation, is a first generation night vision binocular, meaning that it is both functional and inexpensive. In addition, it is great for night time viewing of wildlife, thanks to its built-in infrared illuminator.
Optics
Night Owl is one of the best manufacturers of optical instruments. That being said, the all-glass optics of this binocular are of superior quality. Combined with its large objective lens, the Pro Nexgen is brighter than most of its competitors.
Build
I have been using the Pro Nexgen for some time now, and I don’t think I will be getting used to its ergonomic design anytime soon. The rubberized texture that characterizes its external covering makes it easy to hold and provides a good firm grip. The controls are on top of the binocular, which makes it easy to access.
Accessories
This pair of binoculars does not come without accessories, proving yet again why it is one of the best night vision binoculars for wildlife viewing. Accompanying the binocular are a padded neck strap, lens caps and a black carrying case.

These binoculars are fully electronic, with a 4K sensor, and have full HD video recording capabilities.

The 1000 Y/M rangefinder makes it super convenient for outdoor enthusiast who want an all-in-one package.

Best Cheap Night Vision Binoculars
Binoculars with night vision technology are not the cheapest optical instruments out there; however, there are some pretty awesome and cheap night vision binoculars out there. So if you are on a tight budget, here is a night vision binocular that will not cost you more than $500.
1.Green-state U.s.Army Binocularsus-BF6060
Field of view
The Binocularsus-BF6060 does not look like it can compete with some of its pricier competitors. However, do not let its cheap price tag fool you, for this inexpensive night vision binocular from Green-State is one of the best binoculars I own.
As a hunter, I particularly love the binocular’s 50 mm objective lens, which delivers an exceptionally broad field of view.
The lenses
Hidden within the binocular’s unassuming body is a pair of ruby lenses that are specially designed to minimize UV glare. Meaning that while this is a night vision binocular, it can also be used during the day. Surprisingly, the lenses are all fully multicoated
Night vision
To be honest, the Binocularsus-BF6060 is not the best night vision binocular I own. Nevertheless, it is still a pretty decent night vision binocular to own, especially considering its price. For night vision viewing, the binocular uses HD LLL night vision technology but lacks an infrared illuminator. Therefore, it is not the best binocular to use in total darkness.
Construction
There is nothing sophisticated about the U.S Army Binocularsus-BF6060 rubberized body. Nevertheless, it is quite lightweight and compact weighing only 1.65 pounds.

Best Night Vision Binoculars For The Money
The most basic rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. As such, if you want the best night vision binoculars for the money, you have to be willing to part with a substantial chunk of your hard earned cash. However, you have to ensure that what you get is what you pay for and below is a review of a binocular that is worth its asking price.
1.ATN NVBNNSCVC0 Night Scout Binocular
Design
If it is a touch of elegant sophistication you are looking for, then the NVBNNSCVCO night scout binocular from ATN is the binocular for you.
This gray colored binocular is one that I have always been in love with and for good reasons. Apart from being a good looking binocular, it also boasts an ergonomic design, complete with rubberized thumb side pads for improved grip.
Night Vision Technology
The Night Scout is a second generation binocular with an infrared illuminator built-in. This makes it an ideal optical companion for night time hunting.
Lenses and Magnification
Fitted with a 90 mm lens system, the optical performance of the Night Scout is fantastic. All the glass lenses are multi-coated and offer a great 20-degree field of view. As for the magnification, the Night Scout has a 5X magnification.
Battery Life
Since I use my Night Scout mostly at night, I often find myself in need of the infrared illuminator. As such, one of the things I love about the Night Scout is its awesome battery life. With the illuminator turned on, I can get up to 20 hours of battery life from the binocular’s two 3-volt CR123A battery.
- Powerful 5x magnification
- Multi-coated all-glass optics
- Long-Range Infrared Illuminator
Best Night Vision Binoculars for Under $1000
If you do not want to spend over $1000 on a night vision binocular, you will want to check out the LYNX Gen 1 Night Vision Binocular or the Pro Nexgen Fixed Focus Night Vision Binocular from Bushnell and Night Owl respectively.
1.Bushnell LYNX Gen 1 Night Vision Binocular, 2.5x 40mm
The body
Generation one is the most simplistic of all night vision generations. However, there is nothing naive about Bushnell’s LYNX Gen 1 night vision binocular. With an ergonomic design, this binocular has a robust body that offers good grip even in wet conditions. Weighing only 17 ounces, this binocular feels exceptionally lightweight and very well constructed, which is something I have come to expect from all Bushnell binoculars.
Objective lens & Magnification
Apart from it being lightweight and compact, the LYNX has on more than one occasion proven to be a reliable optical companion. The binocular’s generation 1 intensifier tubes are complemented by its 40 mm objective lens and a 2.5X magnification. Thanks to its relatively low magnification, the LYNX has a pretty decent field of view of 94 feet at 100 feet, which is impressive considering that some pricier binoculars have a narrower field of view than this.
Range
One of the best things about this binocular is its range. According to information, I gathered from Bushnell’s official website; this binocular has a range of 750 yards. Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical about the binocular’s range as highlighted on Bushnell’s website. However, I can independently confirm that this binocular does indeed reach the range claimed by Bushnell.
Night Vision and Battery Life
As a first generation night vision, the LYNX gets the job done without being overly complicated. All its essential control buttons are conveniently located on top of its curved body, and two AAA batteries power it. With new batteries, I can go for up to 70 hours when I am not using the inbuilt infrared illuminator. With the latter on, I get about 20 hours of power.
- Quality optics with stunning HD clarity
- 100% quality materials used and tested extensively
- Beautiful design and durability built to last
2.Night Owl Pro Nexgen Fixed Focus Night Vision Binocular (2.5x)
Design
With an alluring and ergonomic curved design, the Pro NexGen Fixed Focus night vision binocular is another great first generation binocular with a pocket-friendly price tag. While I bought this binocular for its good looks, I love it for its compact and lightweight design. Overall, the binocular weighs 2 pounds and measures 9.7 by 7.1 by 3.8 inches.
Night vision
Being a first generation night vision binocular, do not expect to get the kind of image clarity that a $2000 second generation binocular offers. However, in its price segment, there are very few other binoculars that can compete with the Pro Nexgen’s image clarity. In complete darkness, you can always count on the binocular’s built-in infrared illuminator
Field of View
From the 2x magnification and 24 mm objective lens of this Night Owl binocular you get an impressive 107 feet field of view at a distance of 200 feet.
Battery Life
No night vision binocular would be worth anything without a reliable power source. Thus, with a good price tag you expect to get a great power source, and that is exactly what you get from the binocular’s 3-volt lithium battery. I have been able to get up to 40 hours of battery life with the infrared illuminator turned on and 80 hours when the illuminator is off.
Best Night Vision Binoculars for Under $500
With a budget of less than $500, you can get some pretty awesome night vision binoculars. To help you in your search, below are the reviews of two of the best night vision binoculars for under $500 I have every used.
1.Firefield FF25023 Tracker Night Vision Binocular
Night Vision Technology
The FF25023 Tracker Night Vision is a first generation night vision from Firefield. As a first gen night vision binocular, this binocular offers great image clarity without being overly pricey. To bolster its night vision capabilities, Firefield offers this binocular with an infrared illuminator that provides clear viewing in total darkness.
Construction
The Tracker’s construction makes it one of the best night vision binoculars for under $500, in my opinion. The overall design of the Tracker is superb, and its rubberized body offers sufficient grip. Overall, I was surprised by how lightweight this binocular is and how compact it feels.
Optical Performance
The optical performance of the FF25023 Tracker is fantastic. All the glass optics are fully multicoated to give you stunning image clarity even in extremely low light conditions. The flip covers of the binocular are great.
Battery Life
This binocular can go for up to 72 hours without requiring new batteries. However, this is only when I don’t have the infrared illuminator turned on.
- High quality gen 1 image and resolution
- High power built-in infrared illumination
- Dual tube design provides better depth perception
2.Armasight Dark Strider Gen 1+ Night Vision Binocular
Portability
Weighing a meager 1.3 pounds and measuring 8.9 x 5.9 x 2.3 inches, the Dark Strider Gen, 1+ night vision binocular, is of the same size as most standard binoculars I have used. Thus, it is an ideal binocular if you do not want an overly complicated optical instrument.
Magnification and Range
As a mid-range binocular, the Dark Strider offers medium range viewing and can focus on things as close as ten feet. Though I would not recommend this binocular to a fellow hunter, due to its relatively high 5X magnification, which lowers its field of view, it is still a great piece of optical hardware, especially for security personnel.
Night Vision
Sometimes a Gen 1+ light intensifier tube is just not enough, especially in complete darkness. Fortunately, despite its price tag, this binocular comes with an infrared illuminator built in. With this illuminator turned on, I can get up to 12 hours of night vision viewing.
Other Features
The Dark Strider comes with several accessories including one 3V CR-123 Lithium battery. Also included in the package is an instructions manual, warranty card valid for two years, lens covers and lens cloth and a lanyard.
- Powerful 5x magnification
- Rubberized for extra protection water and fog resistant with build in long-range infrared illuminator
- High resolution Gen. 1+ image intensifier tube
Best Military Night Vision Binoculars & Goggles
For a substantial amount of money, you can get your hands on a pair of high-end military-grade night vision binoculars and best night vision goggles. Having used several military grade night vision binoculars, I can confidently say that the PVS7-3 Night Vision Goggle and the NVBNNSCVC0 Night Scout are among the best military night vision binoculars and goggles.
1.ATN PVS7-3 Night Vision Goggle
Construction
ATN’s PVS7-3 night vision goggles have the same design as the combat-proven AN/PVS-7 night vision goggles. As such, the PVS7-3 is very well constructed and can withstand the harshest of weather conditions. Additionally, this device is quite lightweight and compact.
Night vision technology
The PVS7-3 is a sophisticated and hi-tech piece of optical hardware that offers you everything that you would expect from a night vision binocular and more. As a generation 3 night vision device, this night vision goggle offers exceptional image quality and clarity. One of the binocular’s design features that I love is the auto-gated intensifier tubes. This automated tube does not get damaged when exposed to light. However, this is not to say that you should use your night vision goggle in bright daylight.
Field of View
As a military grade night vision goggles, the PVS7-3’s field of view is unrivaled. The goggles’s superb 40-degree field of view can be attributed to its 1X magnification and 35 mm objective lens.
Lenses
The PVS7-3 has two ocular lenses and one monocular objective lens. The objective lens is protected by an automatic brightness control that regulates the amount of light entering it. The glass ocular lenses are multi-coated and have a pro-shield protective coating.

The FoxBat-LE is also equipped with Automatic Brightness Control (ABC), which adjusts the image brightness automatically, providing the highest possible image quality even in changing light conditions. FoxBat-LE is supplied with two AA batteries and its operating time is up to 40 hours of continuous use.
1.NVBNNSCVC0 Night Scout Night Vision Binocular
Construction
Another high-end military-grade night vision binocular that has earned the right to be on the list of the best military night vision binoculars & goggles is the NVBNNSCVCO night scout. This pricey binocular is very well made and has a tough rubberized exterior. Apart from being a tough all-weather binocular, the night scout is also lightweight and weighs only 4 pounds.
Field of View
Granted the Night Scout has a relatively high magnification of 5X, its field of view is fantastic. The 5X magnification is, in my opinion, is ideal given its size and generation 2 light intensifier tubes.

1.Night Owl Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular (5x)

This pair of binoculars does not come without accessories, proving yet again why it is one of the best night vision binoculars for wildlife viewing. Accompanying the binocular are a padded neck strap, lens caps and a black carrying case.

Best Night Vision Binoculars for Hunting
Hunting in low lighting increases your chances of getting a kill. However, to be successful, you need to be equipped with the most advanced optical instrument that technology has to offer. And this is where the best night vision binoculars for hunting come in. While there are many night vision binoculars advertised as the best for hunting, not all are as good as they are advertised. The Ghost Hunter 1x24 Night Vision Goggle Binocular and the Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular 3x are two binoculars that I think stand out for me.
1.Sightmark Ghost Hunter 1x24 Night Vision Goggle Binocular
The Housing
I have always been a big fan of Sightmark binoculars due to their affordability. As such, the Ghost Hunter night vision binocular is one I use frequently. Although this pair of binoculars is not a military grade binocular, it looks and feels very well made. The rubber exterior provides good grip.
Field of view
The Ghost Hunter Night Vision binocular is one of the smallest night vision binocular in my collection of night vision binoculars. However, it can more than outperform some of its bigger competitors, especially in regards to the field of view. The Ghost Hunter has a 1X magnification and a 24 mm objective lens, which guarantee a broad field of view.
Tripod mount
I rarely use my Ghost Hunter with a tripod; however, I do appreciate the fact that Sightmark found it wise to install a ¼ inch tripod socket. This socket makes it easy to use the binocular with a tripod.
Battery
In between the ocular lenses is a compartment that houses two AA batteries. With the infrared illuminator on, the two batteries can power the binoculars for up to 20 hours. On the other hand with the infrared illuminator turned off, the batteries can power it for up to 80 hours.
- Hand held and head mountable operation. Integrated IR illuminator. Automatic shutoff when exposed to bright light....
- Field of view: 30 degrees, Field of view: 54 meter @100 meter
- Ergonomic design and quick power-up. Resolution: 30 lines per mm
2.Night Owl Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular 3x
Magnification
As already seen the Pro NexGen 5X binocular is great for wildlife viewing. However, its high magnification and narrow field of view make it unappealing to a hunter. Fortunately, there exists a pro nexgen model with 3X magnification. This model offers a lower magnification and a wider field of view making it one of the best night vision binoculars for hunting.
Field of view
With its lower magnification, the 3X Pro Nexgen model can achieve an impressive field of view of 70 feet at 200 feet. It is for this reason that this Nexgen model has become one of my favorite hunting night vision binoculars.
Design
Apart from the magnification, there is no difference between the 3X model and the 5X model. So expect the same great ergonomic design of the more known 5X model.

Best Digital Night Vision Binoculars
Advancements in technology have led to the introduction of more sophisticated night vision binoculars. Today, you can get a night vision binocular with digital capabilities. Of the many digital night vision binoculars out there, the 260501 Equinox Series 6L Night vision from Bushnell takes the top spot.
1.Bushnell 260501 Equinox Series 6L Night Vision Z Digital Binocular
Viewing
To say that the 26050I Equinox Series L night vision binocular is one of the best digital night vision binoculars I have ever operated is understating it. This sophisticated binocular can be used both during the day and at night. For night time viewing, the binocular has one of the most powerful infrared illuminators I have ever seen on a binocular. In low lighting, I am able to view objects as far away as 250 yards
Digital Technology
It would be ironic for Bushnell to advertise its Equinox Series 6L as a digital binocular and give it zero digital capabilities. As such, this binocular has some pretty awesome digital features. First, you get a digital video camera. Secondly, you get a zoom feature and image capture.
Objective Lens and Magnification
A 50 mm objective lens gives this binocular its impressive light transmission capabilities. For a great viewing experience, the 26050I has a 5X magnification.
Construction
I was impressed with how lightweight and compact this digital binocular is. It weighs about 1.6 pounds and measures 8.5 by 7.2 by 4 inches and is powered by 4 AAA batteries, which are long lasting
- Powerful infrared Illumination
- Day or night viewing
- Rugged water-resistant housing
You Can Choose The Alternative Below If Above Is Not Available
- Powerful infrared Illumination
- Magnification x Obj lens: 2x 40mm
- Rugged water-resistant housing
2.VABSCE Digital Night Vision Binoculars 1080p FHD, 1640ft Viewing Range
Viewing
This night vision binoculars has a Great ability to focus on, and see critters and things from about 2 to over 300 yard away in pitch black darkness.
I can tell different species of ducks apart, a gator, and make out trees and shrub easily, hundreds of feet away -when I can’t even see my shoes in the same darkness! Seeing a fox or deer at 500 or 1,200 feet should be just as easy.
The viewing screen is large, especially when compared ot the published size of other night vision screens. I wear glasses, so I hold the screen a few inches to a foot from my face. The focusing is sensitive and very good.
Digital Technology
This night vison let you see up to 984 feet ahead with a 25mm objective lens. The device is equipped with 850nm infrared LED illuminator that offers seven adjustable levels provides clear vision even in complete darkness
Some very cheap night vision binoculars may require a little bit of ambient light next to the goggles in order to see clearly in night vision mode, whereas these binoculars operate ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESSLY in 100% pitch black darkness, and the night vision effect is GREY; not green like you'd see in some military video games.
The item can either run on 8 double A batteries (either standard or rechargeable), or a variety of different power banks. These are actually pretty solid binoculars with excellent (1080p/HD) visuals, requiring a manual focus plus a digital zoom, so rechargeable batteries are going to deplete themselves in an extremely quick fashion.
Objective Lens and Magnification
A 25 mm objective lens gives this binocular its impressive light transmission capabilities. With 3X digital zoom, 2x IR viewing angle zoom, and super 3.6-10.8X magnification 31mm objective aperture, this binoculars can perform a powerful zooming capability to illuminate objects, so it allows you to observe details clearly in darkness.
Construction
You can easily play back them on its built-in 3.6" LCD widescreen, convert to a 4-inch large viewing screen by the convex lens.
I was impressed with how lightweight and compact this digital binocular is. It weighs about 1.43 pounds and measures 9.64 by 8.07 by 3.74 inches and is powered by 8 AAA batteries.
Advice
Again: If you get a mid-grade $30 dollar power bank with these, you are good to go, and these are actually very solid night vision binoculars for the price. Don't expect seven thousand dollar military grade night vision goggles for two hundred and something dollars.

Conclusion
While there are many different binocular brands and models out there, not all will provide you with the kind of optical performance you require or desire. The above-reviewed binoculars are some of my all-time favorite binoculars. As such, you can never go wrong with any one of them. In conclusion, I highly recommend going for a binocular that will give you great value for your money and the above-reviewed binoculars give you exactly that.
